Musings and such

I should be in bed right now, but if I don’t write this now, then I’ll forget/not bother. Quite a bit has happened since my last post, shall try to keep it brief.

Passed my driving test. :D As it happened on the 1st of April: it was an awesome start to the month; some people thought I was trying to fool them and twas like a birthday present to receive the license. My birthday itself wasn’t very eventful, even though I don’t remember how it went (I believe I was sung happy birthday to, over the phone). Anyways, I’m now 19 years (and 8 months) old.

After the summer exams, college was over. However, due to my late university application, it was required for me to go back to college to see my tutor (I should give her something as a thank you, like chocolate). Summer was rather long, so I had to spend some time going to the gym as well as working.

I also experienced some computer problems which meant that I had to reinstall Windows, (like second or third time now). I’m not saying that I’ve only needed to do this 3 times since I’ve owned a computer, I’ve actually lost count of that number. But this was one of the big cock-ups in which I was lost everything that was on the harddrive. Moral of the story: BACKUP!!! It’s not so hard to face after the first time.

Andrew and I had been wanting to go on holiday somewhere, we settled for the Isle of Wight (due to it being relatively cheap). We went there for a week near the end of August, so the weather was perfect.

- Day one: Arrived there by ferry, got an sms saying I’d been accepted to Kingston University and checked into the premier inn at Newport which I love!
- Day two: Went to Alum Bay, got potnoodles for dinner (nicked forks from the restaurant).
- Day three: Visited Carisbrooke castle.
- Day four: Went around Ryde, found a really nice place which serves halal indian food.
- Day five: Checked out of PI, visited Shanklin Chine, drove around island and went to stay with Drew’s parents in Ryde. Ate at a cafe which turned out to be decent.
- Day six: Went to a farm.
- Day seven: Sat in a steam train, got a takeaway from the indian restaurant.
- Day eight: Almost did several things, but then decided against it, came back home.

Overall I loved the holiday and appreciate the fact that we were given a place to stay by Drew’s parents.

After getting back from the holiday, it was time for my final visit to Woking college, to get my results. It’s weird not caring about your results for once.

I met Kurtis after a very long time. We played games and he kicked my ass at them. P.S. I prefer GC controls over the Wiimote.

The last week of September was my first week at university, which was a relief as I had previously been under the impression that it would start on the 1st of September. My dad dropped me there the first day, but I had to get the train back, which was a long way of getting from one place to another in the situation. Nerves kicked in a bit, but then I was fine never the less. I was also slightly excited, as I decided I am not screwing around this time. I went through all my module handbooks and made a mental note of what I need to do aswell as the deadlines. I even made a calender with all the dates written on it.

From then to now, I’ve kept ontop of all my work and not missed a single deadline, thankfully. I also did the impossible thing and am somewhat comfortable talking with some classmates. It feels odd to be be a worker bee as well as feeling ahead of the majority of the class. Within my first week I bought an MP3 player which I use mostly when journeying to or from uni. I’ve also purchased an Xbox 360 as I found with with a price I thought I must be stupid to miss. My latest “thing” is to collect James Bond films, but I’m not getting them all at once, which helps control my spending.

Another thing which has happened is that I found a much shorter train route from uni to home, which saves time as well as money for me. Right now I am in the middle of my winter break, after which I will have exams in January.

My favourite tv show, “Doctor Who” has lost the 10th incarnation of the main character and moved onto the next. It was sad to see him go as he’s had the role ever since I started watching the show. I hope they bring him in, in the future, for a movie, like has happened in the past with previous doctors.

The reason that I decided to write this post, which is much longer than I intended, is to muse whether job satisfaction is a good enough reason to spend your own time, helping fix others problems. Within the last year, as well as a few hours ago, I have spent an amount of my time helping to fix peoples computers. But it makes me wonder, do they appreciate it? Some of it takes figuring out, there are people out their who charge money for what I do (prostitutes). But do the people I help, see it as some thing I devote my time to? Or do they think I just hit some keys and things fix themselves…? Meh!

Anyway,
Happy new year!

Blonde Joke…

This one made me laugh! ^^

And then what happened?

Dunno. Really, I don’t!

It’s hard to say whether I’m optimistic or pessimistic about my life. I seem to be enjoying it right now, but at what expense I wonder… There’s so many things I want to do before I kiss deaths lips, I’m not even sure why, it’s just an interest.

Emocrap aside, I just had my exams recently; one I think went quite well, the other I can only wonder about.

Got a Wii now :D
Got Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime Corruption so far: 2/3 - just need to get my hands on Brawl. I found it new for £20 in HMV but they couldn’t find the disc so I need to try again later.

Rob was in Woking so we met which was awesome cause I hadn’t seen him since college ended last year. We watched the film Twilight which was bloody brilliant (literally!). I wanted to get the books as the movie is based on a series. But I didn’t yet cause I’m picky; they have three of the books in paperback and one in hardback. I want either all in one format (yes I’m a freak).

I also bought a few films recently which are cool. Silent Hill I’m saving for the right time (whenever that may be). Van Helsing I’ve seen twice since I bought it in December. Æon Flux I’ve seen it thrice since yesterday.

I still need to get my UCAS done although I’m being lazy about it. I’m playing Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations which gets my mind off things besides being a good game. My mum came back from Pakistan this month. I can see why I missed her now, it made life easy without her fussing over me.
